NCAA Championship Game 2009
And then there were two. The NCAA Championship game matchup is set. And like you saw earlier today on KGMB9, tensions were high between Michigan State and UConn.
Pick it up late in the first half. Jeff Adrian is fouled hard by Delvon Roe and he takes exception to it. Then all the hub-bub begins, luckily after some pushing and shoving, cooler heads would prevail. But the story of the first half was Kevin Lucas. During the season, Lucas averaged three-points per game off the bench, but today he had 11 in the first half. The Spartans led by two points going into the break.
Seconnd half now. The Spartans came out running. Kalin Lucas, weaving his way for two of his 21-points. That gave Mchigan State the lead for good at 51 to 49. Moments later, Spartans on the break again, and lookout. Durrell Summers posterizes Stanley Robinson; he had 18. A bit later and Robinson throws one down on his own--that brings UConn within three. but on the inbounds, Summers gets free--and that's an and-one. Michigan State is going to pull away from there.
